CLOSED FOR CORONAVIRUS

Dear Tryon Theatre Patrons,

We've decided to close the doors for a while. That means no more movies at the Tryon Theatre until ... well, who knows. It's a disappointment for all of us but it's the right thing to do.

We’re all just winging it with this Coronavirus pandemic. Like the rest of you, we're in uncharted waters. Hopefully, the storm will pass and the usual clear sailing will return sooner than later.

We've gone over the list of pros and cons of closing and, frankly, the pros outweigh the cons. Going to the movies is supposed to be fun, not dangerous. Many of our most loyal patrons are at risk. The benefits of closing are highest earliest. ‘Flattening the curve’ gives our health systems time to cope. Ergo, we're closing.

It's a tough decision but we'd rather be criticized for over-reacting than be blamed for under-reacting. The guiding principal we've turned to is the time-worn phrase 'out of an abundance of caution.' That and your mother's 'better safe than sorry.' We're also growing particularly fond of 'an ounce of prevention ...'

So, it is with heartfelt gratitude and lasting appreciation that we bid adieu for the time being. We'll be back up and running as soon as this thing passes by. Promise.

See you at the movies,
Gayle, Scott & Nick
